Ku: Shroud if the Morrigan is an Action RPG set in Ireland, blending ancient Celtic mythology with a future Ireland "devastated by technomagical war and economic collapse". Featuring hand-drawn art and puzzles, the soundtrack has also been critically acclaimed, and the game reached No 1 on the App Store in Ireland. You can also play in Irish.
The graphics are original and very pretty. They're dynamic: leaves blow across the screen and clouds drift in the background, but there isn't that endless need-the-lavatory sprite jittering so characteristic of KRPGs. The writing has also been praised. Gameplay-wise it has been compared to "Zelda crossed with Bastion". It's more of an adventure game than a full RPG.
The devs say the game was inspired by classic adventure games such as Zelda and Chrono Trigger. They've also committed to no IAP, which will be a breath of fresh air for many gamers. There are about three hours gameplay, and more if you take your time to explore the levels.
